Sitting on a chatbar with good company is always fun but then there are those times when you bring up a subject we all have fun talking about. In this case it was cartoons. Nothing specific or from any one time but cartoons in general and I can't say the same for anyone else but man I had fun being all nostalgic about the show's I used to watch as a kid.
I grew up in 90s Ireland and for the early part of the decade I had the fortune of seeing all the great cartoons of the 80s that my brothers and sisters were growing up with. Show's like M.A.S.K. Jayce and Wheeled Warriors, Transformers, G.I. Joe (Although over here it was Action Force) The Real Ghostbusters, and even some earlier stuff like He-Man and Bravestar etc. I could literally go on and on and on about the great and even so-so cartoons I had the pleasure to see each and every Saturday morning. It was just a fun time for a kid in Ireland in the 90s.
And even when I got a little older and I got see such gems at the time as Men In Black, Big Guy and Rusty or the new Johnny Quest. Heck even the very late 90s/early 00s had greats like Dexters Lab, Johnny Bravo and The Power Puff Girls. Sadly with the new generation of cartoons and the fact I don't watch much TV now adays means I can't really wrap my head around what's on now.
At the time, my all time favorites have to be first and foremost, The Centurians. God I just loved the idea of these three guys with their badass weaponry, on land, sea and air. Compared to your generic kid type heroes, these three guy had the look of "I got this" all over them. They were tough, they were rugged, they were men gosh darn it. I also loved He-man. Come on, dude held his sword high and bellowed the most awesome battle cry EVER!
"I HAVE THE POWEEEER"
There were a whole bunch of others I loved as a kid and even still do to this day. The Muskahounds, Swat Cats, the 90s Batman series was just amazing. Captain Planet was great, even if I never got the reasoning behind "heart". Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles holds a special place in my heart. Although here it was called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtals, as if Ireland never heard of Ninjas at the time.
This subject always gets me waxing nostalgic like this. So I'll stop from boring anyone further and leave you with the intro to my childhood favorite.
